Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.

Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

The Sun is Also a Star...

I don't, honestly, know what to say. I don't even know where to start. As I am sure you can tell from my previous reviews, contemporaries aren't usually my go-to reads. But this one stuck out, and I decided to chance it. My good golly, y'all.

Daniel and Natasha are so very different, but no matter the differences between you and someone else, everyone is going through something. And despite those differences, they can be perfect for each other, be a balm or a spark. Despite everything, they can inspire. This story, without going into details, was like that for ME. A spark, an inspiration. This book is the definition of beauty, in life, in the pages of a story.

The characters in The Sun is Also a Star leap off of the pages and right into your heart. I was in love from the first paragraph, and the love only grew. Nicola Yoon is a force, y'all. There is something about her, about her writing, that has the ability to touch a heart, to make you smile, laugh, cry, leap for joy. I can officially say that I am a fan for life. As soon as you are able, no matter your age or reading preferences, give The Sun is Also a Star a chance. It is so very, very worth it!

  1. Great review! I haven't read her first book, but I know everyone was super excited for it and I can't wait to read it :)
