The Calling is the second book in the Darkness Rising Series by Kelley Armstrong.  If you missed out my review of the Gathering, feel free to scroll on down and check it out!

Book two picks up where book one ends.  The kids are being helicoptered out of the area because of forest fires in the area.  Things are not what they seem and Maya is not sure who to trust.  This book explores Maya's run from the people trying to kidnap her and her friends because of their powers.

A majority of this book is a wilderness survival book- it almost has a dystopian feel to it.  I really enjoyed this book.  We finally get to see Maya shift into a mountain lion- it was a fun scene!  I am still out for debate on the romance though.  I know who Maya loves and who she wants to be with- but I just don't agree.  There is another character that I like more and who I think would be a better fit.  The author has hinted about chemistry there and I am hoping she does something with it in the third book.

This was a great continuation to the Darkness Rising series- I can't wait to pick up the third book!
