Summary taken from Goodreads:

Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.

Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.

A reckoning is coming…and not everyone will survive.

The Cover:  I don't normally trash covers.. but this cover is just awful.  I feel bad for the cover model- they made her look like the bride of Frankenstein!   The colors, the font, the awful picture- it is just terrible.  It is undoubtedly one of the worst covers I have seen from a non-indie book.  Man.

I really loved the first book in the Clann series.  From what I read from other's reviews, like this one at Good Choice Reading, I thought this book was going to be a slam dunk, but it totally wasn't for me.  It was the whining.  I can't handle whining- maybe it is because I am a mom, or a teacher, but my compassion button turns off when people whine.  That is what the first half of this book was- whining.  I really had to struggle not to skim through the novel because I was so irritated by the main characters.

I will say though, that the last third of the book really picked up (probably when the whining stopped) and I really did enjoy it.  There was a major twist at the end of this book that encouraged me to go ahead and say that I will read the third book.  I am hoping this book just suffered a sophomore slump, or maybe I was in the wrong mood to read it, but I was very disappointed by this one.

  1. I really liked the first book, but I haven't heard much about this one. It's a shame it failed to blow you away. I hope the next book is better!

Thanks for the helpful review. :)

  2. I hope you still pick it up and you have a different opinion than me Sam! I know Damaris from Good Choice Reading loved it and I know many others have had fab reviews for it!
