Indie Week: Day 4: Belle Malory

Lola Moori is hiding a secret she doesn't know she's keeping.

She begins to remember someone. Someone important. His name is Gabe…and whatever they shared, she could feel that it was epic.

Yet it seems Gabe wanted her to forget him. Forever.

The curse that repressed Lola’s memories for the span of several lifetimes is coming undone. But unfortunately, she discovers that some secrets are better left buried.
I came up with the idea for Wanderlove while listening to the song "Gypsy" by Shakira. I was intrigued by the idea of modern day gypsies, how they lived, what they do, etc. My playlist was on random, and immediately after the song gypsy finished playing, another inspiring song came on. Ironically, it was the song from Twilight, called "Flightless Bird". I kept hearing the line "Have I found you?" over and over in my head. And I took it literally. I kept picturing this troubled young man reuniting with the girl he loves. It was so heartfelt in my head that I knew he couldn't have been waiting for her for just a few years in an ordinary life. He must have been waiting for lifetimes to feel that strongly. I wrote down the scene from the girl's perspective, wondering how she would react. I realized then that these two characters were both gypsies, wandering through time aimlessly. Somehow everything else magically fell into place and Wanderlove was born.

Belle Malory lives in enchanted castle with a beast and talking dishes...no...wait...that's the Disney version. Ms. Malory's life, on the other hand, is a little more ordinary. However, she is like the Disney Belle in the aspect that they both read a lot of books. Aside from reading, she enjoys writing young adult novels, mainly in the paranormal romance and urban fantasy sub-genres. Belle thinks YA books are awesome, and refuses to outgrow them. In her spare time, Belle is a hoarder of rescue dogs. She is confident her house is listed on a underground doggy map. It probably says something like: "Sucker Lives Here".
