Summary taken from Goodreads:

Elise is a normal seventeen-year-old girl until the day she wakes up in a desert park, with no idea who she is.

After that episode, her life takes a bizarre turn. She’s experiencing unexpected flashes of insight into people’s lives—people she’s never met before. Strangers frighten her with warnings about the approaching Shadows. And although Elise has never had a boyfriend, she suddenly finds herself torn between two handsome but very different young men: Abe, the charming bad boy whose affect on her both seduces and frightens her, and the mysterious Harlin, who’s new to town but with whom Elise feels an urgent, elemental connection—almost as if they are soul mates.

Now Elise begins to question everything about her life. Why do these guys both want her so desperately? What are the Shadows? Why does the name Charlotte inspire a terrifying familiarity? And who is Elise, really?

I am seriously in love with this cover.  At first I was incredibly confused about why this girl was on the cover... "Isn't this a sequel?"  "Didn't Charlotte have blonde hair?"  "Who is this chick?"
The first thing I will say is- it is important if you reread A Need So Beautiful to refresh yourself before you read this book- or at least the last chapter.  It took me a few chapters into this book to remember how A Need So Beautiful ended.  This book picks up right where the first ends, and gives no recapping.

I am sure you can guess, even by the synopsis, that Elise is Charlotte brought back to fufill her Need.  I am not going to tell you what that is (it would ruin the book!) but I will say that the author did a good job of keeping this book from being a sophomore slump.  I really enjoyed this book.  It was full of action. The good guys were REALLY good and the bad guys were REALLY bad.  For me, there was not a sense of feeling sorry for the antagonists in the book.  I didn't "fall in love with a bad boy" in this story.

I really appreciate how different this book is from other paranormals in the YA genre.  I mentioned this in my review for the first book too.  Everything feels different about this book.  There is no love triangle and it really IS about the journey that the main character goes through.

I will say, though, that there was one thing I was a little disappointed with- the length.  This was a very fast read for me, and I wish it could have been longer. I wanted to know more about the journey that Elise took and a little more about the characters from the first book.  It made it feel a little rushed.  Now that is not to say I didn't enjoy the book- I loved it!  I really think I would have loved it even more if it would have had another 75 pages.

  1. OMG this is the first review I have seen of A Want so Wicked! It is definitely one I am dying for! And very happy the book doesn't follow a lot of the sophmore pitfalls we see, like you said. And yay to no love triangle! Thank you for the review! :)

  2. I'm definitely looking forward to A Want So Wicked. My only complaint with A Need So Beautiful was it being too short. I absolutely loved the book though. Great review, and now I'm excited for this one to come out!
